Holy crap, it's an update!!

So wow, I suck at keeping a blog. Who knew?

What's happened: Munchie got sick, but is better now. I took a cake decorating class and while it was fun, it was a lot of hard work. Drew said he doesn't care what the cake looks like, he's still going to eat it. My year-long search for a job finally ended in May and while the company is public knowledge, just me having a public blog can stir up concern so I am not going to risk having the dogs called on me by naming it. Barb (Acornbud's Yarns) came in and saw me this past week, which was really cool. In fact, I wanted to go to Mocha Java this evening, but didn't have a change of clothes.

After Barb's visit, I got inspired to pick up the needles and make me some socks. I have a good amount of sock yarn, plus I never finished the mate to one of them, so I will do that this weekend. In fact, I have a crazy Sunday to where I'll probably be downtown all day as it won't make much sense to go home. Maybe some fellow knitters would like to meet up at Ala Moana or Ward. Heck, I'll even go as far as Kahala! Okay, so I'll post in the Yahoo group, I'm sure I'll get some more hits there.

BTW, how sad is it that I can't remember how to make the link work by clicking on that person's name? I truly sucketh.

Holy moly, I haven't touched this thing since July?!? Well, let me tell you what's been up:

Drew returned from deployment and we went to Hilo to celebrate my 30th birthday:

A friend from The Hawaii All-Breed Rabbit Club got me into orchids. Drew bought me this beautiful one while we were in Hilo:

I haven't knitted anything in quite some time. I got frustrated when I couldn't get my second sock to stripe up correctly, plus Sir Poops-a-lot (Munchie) bit into it and instead of ingesting the working yarn, he sucked down the yarn that was already knit. I took it as a sign and put the project away until I could stop being mad at it. I did find a styrofoam mannequin head like I'd been looking for to model hats at Party City during Halloween, so I bought it. Drew is gone for a drill, so maybe I'll modge podge the mannequin head tomorrow or something.

Seeing as how I have been unsuccessful in finding a real job, I began private tutoring. I have 5 kids, two of which are in the same family, which helps. The ombudsman from my ship emailed me information about getting certified to teach in Hawaii, so I am going to go to the session. I figure it can't hurt to look into it.

We are going to Texas in a couple of short weeks for Thanksgiving. It was much cheaper to buy tickets for that timeframe as opposed to xmastime. While there I hope to do the things I did not get to do last year. I miss the hillcountry and just want to drive through it.

Did I mention Munchie has discovered walking upright is pretty cool? Once he perfects it, there's a whole world of things for him to destroy.

Behind every knitter is a small (sometimes bigger) animal

Waiting, watching for his chance...

AT UTTER DESTRUCTION!!!!!

Apparantly it was totally worth it to land himself in a timeout.

I swear this rabbit lives better than me at this point. When I had my guests, I hadn't had a chance to go shopping, but there was fresh lettuce, apples, and blueberries in the fridge for the rabbit. Today I had to seriously restrain myself because he peed on the couch while he was sitting next to me as I was playing Sims2. After I put him in the cage and cleaned up the mess, Drew called me and I told him what happened. He responded by saying "Well, was he happy?" I said "I don't know, but I wasn't happy." Drew reminded me that bunnies pee on people as a sign of affection. While that could be a possibility, I have serious doubts. Oddly the rabbit keeps me calm because I don't want to scare him by ever losing it in front of him. He works better than deep breaths and counting to ten.

So much has happened in just the past week: My little Clover died last Saturday. I spent the entire day at the ER vet on pins and needles and while she came home alright, she died within an hour. I felt so horrible and cried all night, but finally had to come to terms that I did the best I could have done and while my intentions were good, I should've gotten more guidance for proper care. I wanted to cremate her, but I could not bear the thought of her little body going into the incinerator, so I got up early on Sunday morning, mowed the lawn, dug a hole, and buried her with her toys. I look out at the mound everyday and it's getting somewhat easier, but it still hurts.

On a happier note, I graduated from UH Manoa today. Three of my friends are here from Texas and New York to celebrate with me and we've been having a good time. I've taken on the role of tourist with them and have been enjoying Oahu through that perspective. I'll post pictures soon as they are on my desktop and it's being used right now.

Well, I plan to be back at Aloha Knitters this Thursday, so hopefully some knitting will have taken place before then.

This is the sock that never ends...

Okay, so I've been working on this sock for quite awhile now because I have so much other craziness going on. I'm in the last few days of school and am trying to ensure that I will graduate as planned. I also have the bunny, which when Opal was over the other night observed how much of my time the little guy takes up. To add to the insanity, I purchased ANOTHER bunny yesterday as he is VERY tiny and I sincerely was worried about his fate in the pet store. All the guinea pigs were climbing on him as well as the other rabbit and he's too little to defend himself. Munchie is overjoyed at having a new friend, although I think he's kinda freaking out the little one. So yeah, finishing this one sock may take longer than it normally should. Knitting will happen tomorrow night at Aloha Knitters, I swear!

Finally, a pet!

This is Munchie. Munchie is a Netherland Dwarf bunny. He is completely awesome. We got him on March 31 and we love him. Every day I have to go to school breaks my heart because he's all alone until someone gets home. He has the run of the downstairs and has discovered the computer room. He loves to run and play and be michievous. Munchie also has an affection for my husband's shoes, socks, pants, and t-shirts. He may very well be a very spoiled bunny!
